About Us.

Nyhavn is a place to celebrate what truly matters: the relationships we hold dear and the moments that nurture our lives. Nyhavn is here to hold space for what is already present, inviting us to reconnect with simplicity, gratitude and the fullness of now.

Nyhävn is named after the historical harbor in Copenhagen, Denmark. This waterfront has been a gathering place for sailors to rest their sea legs for centuries. Similarly, our space in Heber City, Utah is a place for you to rejuvenate and find refuge.

At Nyhävn, we believe in the power of community, healing, and belonging. Our space is more than just a studio—it is a sanctuary, a refuge for those seeking to rest their hearts, minds, and sea legs. Whether you are here to teach, learn, or simply breathe, Nyhävn invites you to be your true self.

At Nyhävn, every detail has been carefully considered to create an environment where you can feel safe, seen, and heard. Our visitors often describe it as a calming, warm, and inviting place—one that is difficult to fully put into words. Here, the air feels lighter, and the energy encourages you to slow down, to reconnect, and come home to yourself.

One of our guests said it best:

“Nyhävn is a place that is hard to fully describe. So much thought and attention to detail has been put into this space. It is calming, warm, inviting, and safe.”

We see Nyhävn as a blank canvas, a playground for your soul, a space where you can dream, rest, and gather.  Whether you’re looking for refuge, inspiration, or connection, this is a space where all hearts are welcome.

OUR

MISSION

Founder of Nyhavn

About Jo:

Jo Tholstrom is a devoted guide to the art of coming home to yourself. As a somatic movement facilitator and feminine embodiment coach, she creates powerful, safe spaces for women to reconnect with their essence, inviting them to release worn beliefs, frozen tension, and meet their soul. Through the transformative tools of movement, breath, and awareness, Jo gently and wildly guides others to reclaim their wholeness.

Jo discovered the healing power of embodiment during a transformative chapter of her life, where the medicinal practices of breath and movement became her balm. She believes the body is a sacred home—a place to meet the soul and process the emotions we carry. With a deep understanding of the human spirit, Jo teaches the art of befriending the sensations within, offering permission to embrace all parts of oneself.

Trained in Vinyasa and Aerial Yoga, Primal Vinyasa, Breathwork, and as a Feminine Embodiment Coach through the School of Embodied Arts, Jo combines a variety of healing modalities to create experiences that awaken and free the body and mind.

Jo is the founder of Nyhavn, a gathering space for healing, connection, and belonging in Heber City, Utah—a true place to anchor. She resides in Midway, Utah, with her beloved husband and their four children.

Her invitation is simple yet profound: “Come home, dear one. May we begin again and again.”

"One day let's have a place where people can come and be their whole selves. A place where we belong." —Jo

FOUNDING STORY:

Years ago, we sat on the gravel driveway of our home in England, dreaming up a space where people could come together to be themselves. We imagined a “hygge house”—a place of warmth, connection, and healing. That conversation planted the seed, and today, Nyhävn stands as the embodiment of that dream. But what we didn’t know back then was: for a dream to come to life we must believe we are worthy of receiving it.  These dreams come to life with collaboration and co-creation with one another. We believe the best of life is working alongside one another to create a “home” where we are free to be in our fullest expression.

“Jo is the epitome of vulnerability, light, rawness, and untamed goodness. She is movement. shift. growth. expansion - and creates a powerful space to let everything out, feel it all, and move with the emotion. It is a primal dance, the innate connection to the human spirit and to each other. Jo is a gift to this world, and I am endlessly grateful to be in her presence and apart of her beautiful spaces."
